Recovery advocates host alcohol-free St. Patrick's Day

Often times, many people associate the religious celebration of St. Patrick’s Day with alcohol filled parties, creating a barrier for families or people in recovery to celebrate safely.
In Sussex County, a team of Recovery Advocacy volunteers meet monthly to organize events that promote and support recovery and we are pleased to announce that our 3rd Annual Sober St. Patrick’s Day Party and Open Mic Night was a huge success with over 60 community members gathering for fun, food and music.
Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch, always an advocate for people to achieve recovery, helped to open the festivities with a powerful message encouraging all in recovery and their families. Recovery Advocacy volunteer Mario Inglima acted as the emcee for the evening and even provided some of his own original music.
The night brought together people in recovery, their families and friends for dinner and musical performances. A very special thanks to Dominick's Restaurant & Pizzeria and Bella Italia Pizzeria & Restaurant for providing a generous donation of delicious food.
