Franklin man faces theft charges

FRANKLIN — A Franklin man faces charges after borough police received a complaint of theft on Feb. 17.
Mark A. Garrera, 25, was charged with theft, a third-degree crime and also was charged on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on an unrelated criminal charge.
Sometime on Feb. 17, a complainant had reported the theft of an inoperable vehicle he was attempting to have restored.
The complainant alleged that he had provided a vehicle to be restored, specific vehicle parts, and approximately $400 to Mark A. Garrera of Franklin. The complainant reported he had made an agreement to have Mr. Garrera restore the vehicle for him. After several months the complainant reported that he believed the vehicle was stolen after his communication with Mr. Garrera had ceased and he was unable to locate his vehicle.
An investigation by the Franklin Detective Bureau, revealed that Garrera, 25, of allegedly had without authorization or permission sold the vehicle and kept the profits of the sale of the vehicle.
Garrera was arrested without incident at a family member’s residence on Susquehanna Street in Franklin Borough.
He was lodged in the Passaic County Jail on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on an unrelated criminal charge.
The investigation is ongoing and additional complaints may be filed.
The complaints that were filed are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The charges may be presented to a grand jury for potential indictment.
