Dance Festival celebrates 10th anniversary

Centenary Stage Company’s 2017 Dance Festival continues with a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of Moe-tion Dance Theater on Sunday, March 26 at 4 p.m. in the Lackland Performing Arts Center.
Moe-tion Dance Theater was established in 2007. As one of New Jersey’s premier dance companies. Moe-tion Dance Theater is under the artistic direction of Maureen Glennon who has been teaching dance since the age of sixteen and continues to share her love of dance with a new generation of dancers. The company is dedicated to experimenting and creating new forms of expression. Moe-tion Dance Theater is known for their diverse repertory and site- specific work. They have performed at numerous festivals, showcases and venues throughout the tri- state area including DUMBO Dance Festival, Cool NY Dance Festival, 2016 Mason Gross Summer Series, SWEAT Outdoors Festival, Outlet Dance Project at Grounds for Sculpture and many other astounding performances throughout the tri- state. The company performed "Comical Twins...ACTIVATE!!” a collaborative dance evening with Pascal Rekoert's company, Flexicurve at the Gershwin Hotel in NYC.
Maureen was commissioned by NJ Arts Collaborative, to create a piece for their upcoming family production, The Butterfly Project. Maureen’s piece “Ants” was created a year before the production to help promote The Butterfly Projects’ premiere at NJPAC. Moe-tion Dance Theater has been presented by many colleges throughout NJ, including County College of Morris, Montclair State University and Centenary College. Maureen and the company have also been guest performers at the Russ Berrie Theatre/Ramapo College, Raritan Valley Community College, the Pingry School, the Dance in Education Fund Showcase at SUNY Purchase Dance Theater Lab and the Robert Schonhorn Arts Center. In addition to performing and choreographing, Artistic Director Maureen Glennon is a dance educator. Maureen and the company have performed lecture/demonstrations at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, Raritan Valley Community College and have taught residencies at Morris County School of Technology and Rosa Parks Performing Arts High School.
Tickets for the Moe-tion Dance Theater performance are $20 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 12 in advance. As with all concerts, jazz and special events ticket prices increase $5 on the day of the performance. Centenary Stage Company is also offering a Dance Flex Pass for $37.50 which grants entry into ANY THREE Dance Festival Performances of your choice.
Centenary Stage Company’s 2017 Dance Festival continues Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m. with Nai Ni Chen Dance Company’s family Event “Red Firecracker” The First Chinese New Year. Nai Ni Chen Dance Company will also be presenting a school matinee performance of “Red Firecracker” The First Chinese New Year on Friday, March 31 at 10:30am.
