Oroho meets with DOT commissioner to discuss local projects

Senator Steven Oroho met recently with Commissioner Richard Hammer of the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) and department staff, as well as NJ Transit officials, to talk about transportation projects in the 24th Legislative District.
"There are many vital transportation projects throughout the district that need attention," said Oroho. "Now that the TTF has been reauthorized, and renewed funding in place, these projects can see action."
Senator Oroho was instrumental in crafting a Tax Reform and Reauthorization Plan that coupled targeted tax cuts with a plan to take the Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) out of bankruptcy. Of note, the plan doubles local transportation aid to counties and municipalities to help ease the property tax burden.
Commissioner Hammer identified 33 projects in District 24 that are currently part of the State DOT's Capital Program with a value of approximately $108 million.
"After meeting with the Commissioner and his staff, I'm confident the critical transportation projects in my district will get the state assistance that is required," Oroho stated.
Senator Oroho said DOT staff will be coming up to the district in the near future for a tour of some of the local projects to get an even greater understanding of the need and what may be required.
