    Joann Alice Wittig(nee Phelps), 82 years old, died peacefully at home after a long illness on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017. Born to Merritt and Nellie Phelps in Smithfield Twp., PA, she was raised and lived there before moving to the Lake Stockholm section of Hardyston Twp., N.J., 54 years ago.
    Joann worked as a machine operator for Bel-Art in Pequannock Twp., N.J., for 21 years retiring in 2002. She was a doting wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed gardening and solving her word searches and sudokus.
    Joann is predeceased by her husband, Claude “Woody” Wittig (2007), her twin sister, Jean Kinch (2014) and her brother, Addison Phelps (2015) and is the devoted mother of Kathleen Shortis and her husband, Frank of Monroe Twp., N.J., John Wittig and his wife, Helen, of Franklin, N.J., William Wittig and his wife, Sandy of Newton, N.J., Frank Wittig of Lake Stockholm, N.J., and Carol Cahir and her husband, Mike, of Waleska, GA. Cherished by 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
    The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, N.J. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston Twp., N.J.
