Piano studio celebrates anniversary

The Sussex County Music Workshop, the Piano Studio of Ed & Margaret Korczynski, will celebrate 37 years of offering piano lessons in Sussex County.
Lessons for both adults and children are offered in Vernon, and Sparta, and in Warwick N.Y. They are now accepting new students at all three locations.
Both Ed & Margaret are members of the North Jersey Piano Teachers Association which sponsors a yearly scholarship recital for graduating seniors, of the participating teachers, who plan to attend college in a music major or minor program. The Korczynski's are also members of the National Guild of Musicians based in Austin, Texas. For the past 22 years, Margaret has served as the coordinator of the Guild's annual auditions in Sussex County.
Each year the students in their studio participate in master classes and annual recitals. Students who are interested are also encouraged to participate in special recitals, competitions, and various musical festivals. Their students have participated for the past 18 years in The Walter Engel Festival, which is held in Ridgewood.
Over the years, many of their students have devoted their time and talents by performing at senior citizen facilities, for special ed classes, and for religious services. In recent years several students have performed for events at Project Self Sufficiency, some have made CD's, and donated the proceeds of the sales to the organization.
Ed and Margaret expressed that they have derived a great sense of satisfaction over the years observing students beginning lessons at the age of 5, unable to reach the pedals, and then seeing them graduate form High School, reaching the stars, playing works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, and many other composers. They both said these students are carrying on a rich tradition which must be preserved.
