Boy Scouts working with Project Help

SUSSEX — The Boy Scouts came out to work with Project Help
Recently, Troop 912 from Vernon, spent most of their time on a Saturday, assisting Project Help.
Early on a chilly Saturday morning, the scouts came out to the Project Help storage bay at Moove In storage. They spent the better part of the day, sorting, donated clothing into several grouping. First was by season, next was by gender and the final sort was for children.
They emptied out many, many bags of garments, outerwear and footwear, sorted items on six different tables, and hung many items like coats, jackets and suits onto garment racks. The items not hung were folded and packed into boxes, taped, stacked and labeled.
The Boy Scouts were accompanied by scoutmasters George Duerr and Dave DiPietro of Abacus Systems in Sussex. Dave has been a scout leader for many years and is a resident of Vernon.
“We are so very grateful to all those who came out to help”, said Sandy Mitchell, Founder of Project Help.
The clothing will all be donated to veterans and their families and some is stock piled for Project Help’s Mobile Closet Initiative. Some of these items will be put into the vet closet in Franklin at Catholic Charites Thrift shop on Wyker Rd. All of this clothing and miscellaneous items are free for the vets and their families.
This clothing came from the American Legion in West Milford. They were Adam Shuren of Stanhope, Samantha Alfonso of Morristown and Sandy Mitchell of Sussex.
It was a monumental job, but with all the help, it was fun and done in less than three hours.
