DASI accepting volunteer applications

| 22 Dec 2016 | 04:28

Applications are currently being accepted for volunteers to join Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Intervention Services’ volunteer program.
Volunteers enhance DASI’s work and are vital to its mission. Opportunities are available working directly with clients, and working to assist staff and the agency in general. Due to the sensitive nature of the work and to certain legal requirements, volunteers may need to complete specialized training before active participation. Direct service volunteer opportunities include: transportation (emergency and scheduled), donation pick-up and delivery, women’s activities, children’s activities, safe house activities, hotline, court accompaniment, follow-up services, Sexual Assault Response Team and Domestic Violence Response Teams.
Volunteers additionally help us raise funds, put on events, maintain buildings, and assist in general service delivery in the following ways: Sales and merchandising at Morning Glory Thrift & Gift Shop (an ongoing fundraising initiative of DASI), office work, gardening/weeding/yard maintenance, donation pick up, special projects, special events, building repairs and maintenance, fundraising, community education, food bank, and food and cell phone drives.
The application process includes submission of the application form, a personal interview, completion of various levels of training as well as reference and criminal background checks. The next volunteer training will begin in March 2017.
Interested persons are encouraged to submit the application as soon as possible to begin the process. Applications are available by contacting DASI at 973-579-2386 or info@dasi.org.
