Wallkill Valley school hosts art show

The 6th annual Wallkill Valley Invitational Art Show was held last night in the Wallkill Media Center. The event was attended by approximately 200 people and was a huge success. Nine area high schools and 4 area middle schools submitted artwork to the show which was judges by College admission representatives and art professionals.
Approximately $173,000 in scholarship money was awarded.
Art Talent Award given by William Paterson University in an amount to be determined to Molly Cheevers and Connor Durand both of Wallkill Valley Regional High School.
The Peter's Valley Workshop Scholarship went to Destiny Van Orden of Wallkill Valley Regional High School.
Savannah College of Art and Design awarded a scholarship for $3000 per year totaling $12000 to Brandon Foushee of Mount Olive.
Marywood University Art Scholarship for $2500 per year totaling $10000 went to Molly Cheevers and Connor Durand of Wallkill Valley Regional High School and Tiara Herpriyonggo from Mount Olive High School.
Montserrat College of Art presented two pre-college summer scholarships totaling $1500 to Mackenzie Coakley of Roxbury High School and AviSierra Mickens of Wallkill Valley Regional High School.
Montserrat also handed out three BFA scholarship awards for $10,000 a year totaling $40,000 to Julia Lopez of Sparta, Kyle Placentino of Sparta, and Destiny Van Orden of Wallkill Valley.
Marshall Okin of ArtEtc. Gallery in Newton who is opening a second location in Sparta has offered internships to Morgan Castro of High Point, Rosa Chang and Tiara Herpriyonggo of Mount Olive, Zoe Paxos of Roxbury and Allison Weismann of Warren Hills. He has also extended job offers to Marica Matlijoska, Connor Durand and Caroline Kim all of Wallkill Valley.
