NACL Theater play tackles racism in workplace

Rehearsals are currently under way for the NACL production of "People Like Us", a play directed by NACL artistic director, Tannis Kowalchuk.
The play features a diverse cast of professional actors, and the performance text is part of a collection entitled “Plays for Living” established over 60 years ago in New York City. Plays for Living scripts focus on social issues and use post show interactive workshops to explore the issues with audience members. "People Like Us", focuses on racism and sexism in a corporate landscape.
Ths ensemble includes Jess Beveridge, Bradley Diuguid, Valeria D. Henry, Oliver King, Keith McHenry, Toby Poser, Jim Sullivan, and Crystal Tweed, with playwright assistance from Melissa Bell.
The ensemble has been rehearsing with venue support from Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, one of NACL’s community partners in the ongoing Diversity Workshops that NACL has been organizing over the last 12 months.
People Like Us will tour to Madison, N.J., on Dec. 13 to be presented at Realogy Corporation. Following the play presentation, the audience will engage in a workshop led by facilitator, Keith McHenry. Following the Dec. 13 engagement, NACL will offer People Like Us for subsequent performance and workshop engagements to companies and organizations throughout the northeast.
