    Nov. 18Matthew Fedroff, 36, of Hamburg was sentenced to four years of probation and 364 days in jail.
    He received a jail credit of 94 days. He was ordered to submit to a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations made from same, provide a DNA sample at his own expense, and pay fines and fees totaling $1,330.
    He pleaded guilty on Oct. 11, to unauthorized practice of medicine, a third-degree crime, and attempt to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by fraud, a third-degree crime.
    The defendant posed as a doctor on May 24, in Franklin, and phoned in a fraudulent prescription for Xanax to the Shop Rite Pharmacy.
    Jennifer Nicholson, 29, of Hopatcong was sentenced to four years of probation with credit for 122 days served. She also must undergo a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, complete 100 hours of community service, pay $760 in restitution and have no contact with the victim, submit to random urine monitoring and pay $155 in court fines and fees.
    She pleaded guilty on Sept. 6, 2016, to third degree fraudulent use of a credit card.
    Between May 24 and June 1, 2014, the defendant used a stolen credit card to obtain goods and services at multiple businesses in Morris and Sussex counties.
    Candace Halpin, 27, of Vernon was sentenced to three years of probation with jail credit for 89 days time served. She was ordered to submit to mental health counseling and follow all recommendations made from same, attend weekly AA/NA meetings, submit a DNA sample at her own expense, and pay fines and fees totaling $1,880.
    She pleaded guilty on Oct. 11, to possession of heroin, a third-degree crime, and failure to turn over, a disorderly persons offense.
    The defendant was in possession of 19 bags of heroin on May 12, 2012, in Vernon and failed to turn over 18 bags of heroin on Oct. 11, 2012, in Newton.
    Joseph Messina, 26, of Vernon pleaded guilty to making a false report with purpose to implicate another, a third-degree crime, defrauding the administration of a drug test, a third-degree crime, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime, hindering apprehension, a disorderly persons offense, failure to inspect, a motor vehicle offense, and violation of probation.
    Sentencing is presently anticipated for Jan. 6, 2017.
    On Jan. 29, in Hardyston Township, the defendant was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. He gave a false name to officers. On Jan. 30, the defendant falsely accused an officer of calling him names and striking him in the face. On April 6, he attempted to defraud a drug test during a drug screening for probation. On May 31, 2016, the defendant was found to be in possession of Suboxone by the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office.
    The cases were investigated by Patrolmen Zicarelli and Varcadipane of the Hardyston Township Police Department and Officer Galante of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office.
