WANTAGE — Farmside Pet and Animal Supply Store owner John Kuperus has a new addition to his shop, the iclean dogwash.
Manufactured in Holland and acquired by Kuperus at a Las Vegas trade show, the iclean serves the customer’s purpose of convenience. Kuperus is convinced it’s so much easier to shampoo, condition and blow dry the family dog at his shop.
“It really is a great help,” he referred to the iclean. “The owner self-washes the dog and that eases the anxiety for the dog that panics at the groomer’s shop.”
For a fee, the iclean easily opens and allows all size dogs to step up into the spacious tub and experience eight cycles, the shampoo, rinse, conditioner, flea bath, low and high blow dry and the final disinfectant cycle for the next canine. Kuperus’ dog wash is the celebrity edition, so seven notables give tips, quips and directions for washing your “best friend.” Farmside celebrities include David Letterman, Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Madden, Christopher Walken, President Obama and newly elected Donald Trump who directs that “Fleas need to be rinsed out” in a very forceful voice.
Currently, the Farmside dog wash averages roughly 15 to 20 dogs per week. The shop is open Monday- Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Kuperus’ future vision for the dog wash is calling for a 24/7 wash service. Future dog wash coupons of a $3 discount will be available and issued to dog owners who purchase any bag of dog food. Another of Kuperus’ futuristic plans include being a freelance seller and representative of the Dutch dog wash.
"I’m excited about this product," Kuperus said. "There could be iclean dog washes in pet stores, veterinarian offices, apartment buildings and even car washes."
