HIgh Point Regional High School's Technological Studies Dept. was honored with the Innovative Educators Award in recognition and celebration of extraordinary talent, creativity, ingenuity, and enthusiasm by innovative teachers in the field of technology and engineering education.
These individuals include: Ben Kappler, Stephen Peltier, Alex Gonzalez, Paul Cardinal, Kevin Fenlon, Matt Garrera and STEM Supervisor Brian Drelick.
The Technological Studies Department at HP Regional consists of six teachers plus a STEM supervisor. Four of these individuals are graduates of Millersville University’s technology education program.
The Department and its teachers have been recognized at the state and national level for their efforts and accomplishments, including ITEEA and NJTEEA program of the year twice and individual teacher of the year awards for several of these teachers.
These teachers also have a very active and successful TSA program, having won 33 New Jersey State TSA championships and 3 TSA National Championships since 2006. And, how many technology education programs can boast about having received a US patent for an innovation developed in one of their courses? These folks can.
Their website provides students, teachers, community members — and anyone with internet access for that matter — with all kinds of valuable information about their program and accomplishments. I highly recommend that you visit it to see for yourself. Last year, several of these teachers attended the ITEEA conference in National Harbor, where they gave a packed‐house presentation about the maker movement as well.
