Volunteers graduated English program

Sussex Programs about 80 volunteer tutors help local adults improve their use of English: speaking, writing, reading –all necessary for successful maneuvering through everyday life.
Some of these adult students are from abroad, learning English anew. Some were born and educated in the U.S. but still need to sharpen their use of the language. With tutoring customized to each student’s needs, they are able to get a job or a promotion, get a driver license, communicate with their children’s teachers and their doctor — to have a much more rewarding life.
Even with these 80 volunteer tutors, there is a waiting list of adults seeking such help. Eight of those on the waiting list will now be matched with the new tutors who graduated in October from the LiteracyNJ-Sussex tutor training class.
