Johann Oberle

Johann Oberle, 88 years old, died peacefully at his residence after a short illness on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016. Born to Stefan and Elizabeth Oberle in Yugoslavia, he was separated from his family during WWII and placed in a concentration camp that he escaped from and then came to the United States in 1955 settling in Union City, NJ, he then lived in Weehawken, Sandyston and Lafayette before moving to Hardyston Twp., N.J., 13 years ago.
Johann was a sheet metal worker for many years for several companies and retired from Coordinated Metals in Carlstadt, N.J., in 1994. He owned and operated the Forest Motel in Sandyston from 1979 to 1986. He enjoyed dancing, celebrating different cultural festivals and gambling.
Johann is the beloved husband for 53 years of Magdalena Oberle (nee Fleischhacker). Devoted father of Joseph Fleischhacker and his wife, Lois of Maspeth, N.Y., Sigmund Oberle of Jupiter, Fla., and Stephen Oberle and his wife, Debra, of Sparta, N.J. Loving grandfather of Stephen, Aidan, Milena, Joseph and his wife, Karen and Lynn Ann. Great grandfather of Joseph, Jason, Nicholas and Adrianna. Uncle of Ilse Cunningham of Johnsonville, N.J.
The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main Street, Franklin, N.J., on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Jude the Apostle RC Church, Hamburg, N.J. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at noon.
