The Ogdensburg Borough Council plans to replace about 10 feet of water main under Beardslee Hill Road.
Councilman Peter Opilla said engineering met with Department of Public Works Supervisor Chris Ross and they plan to replace over ten feet of existing pipe, at the cost estimate of between $20 and $30K. The estimate is only for construction work and does not include engineering costs.
Opilla said his goal is to have an ordinance ready to be read by the next meeting. Also, he explained, the money will come from capital, and the work will not go out to bid, due to the repair being an emergency. Opilla concluded,
“Just get a contractor; do the work; and get it done,” Opilla said.
Councilman Robert McGuire said the county completed an inspection of the Ogdensburg Firehouse, in light of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessibility at the polls. McGuire said the county has issues with the door thresh holds, running slope, side entrance without railings, door opening the wrong way, plus, signs saying, “Van Accessible” are required.
Officials discussed many different options. Borough Clerk Phyllis Drouin will call the county for further clarification.
Council President George Hutnick said Service Electric will do a site-survey of Borough Hall in order to upgrade the Internet service. He added, the building has been having internet issues with Century-Link.
