Hilltop Country Day School’s eighth graders participated in a workshop with photographer Paul Michael Kane on Oct. 5.
In correlation to the annual Art Exhibition and Sale, artist visits are arranged for Upper School students to learn about careers in the art field, different mediums of art, expand their creativity, and think outside of the box.
Paul Michael Kane, a local photographer, returned to Hilltop for his third artist visit. This year, students learned about different careers in photography. They did a group project where they each took turns being the photographer and the model, in creating a composite photograph. Using PIXLR, an online photo editing tool, Upper School Students at Hilltop learn to edit, crop, adjust color and transform digital images. Their completed photos will be on display at the art show.
This year’s 39th Annual Art Exhibition and Sale will take place Friday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, Oct. 23. More than 45 artists hailing from the Tri-State area display works of all mediums, including paintings, jewelry, woodworking, ceramics, sculpture, and glass. Open to the general public, Hilltop encourages all members of the surrounding community to peruse the gallery. Thirty percent of all proceeds benefit the school directly.
Tickets for The Opening Night Experience can be purchased in person or by phone (973) 729-5485 between the hours of 8-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, online at hilltopart.org, as well as at the door on Oct. 21.
    Tickets are $60.
