Pond stocked with trout for youngsters

Residents Al and Carol Grazevich brought their grandson Seth Gogolen, 5 1/2, of Stockholm for a morning of fishing. His grandfather joked that Seth is known as the Mayor of Hardyston Elementary School.
At right, Franklin Police Department Patrolman Rafael Burgos brought his six-month old blue nose terrier þÄúDieselþÄù to interact with the children.
FRANKLIN — Saturday’s perfect weather helped to make the Second Annual Franklin Trout Fishing Derby held at Franklin Pond a success.
The event was organized by the Franklin Borough Recreation Commission in conjunction with sponsors Braen Stone and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 57.
Stocked with trout just before the event, at least a half-dozen children caught some of the fish and in turn were awarded a selection of prizes.
The event was open to children under 14 from Franklin, Hamburg, and Ogdensburg.
