Healthy Thymes celebrating anniversary

Healthy Thymes Market welcomes the community to celebrate their 27th Anniversary, beginning Thursday, Oct. 13-23.
During the 10-day celebration, their own “Healthy Thymes” label products will be 27 percent off; and owners Dan and Dr. Dani Segal invite everyone to come enjoy giveaways, raffle baskets, demos, special food, sampling, and goody bags.
Dr. Dani said their customers have become family over the years, from young children receiving organic lollipops, to now returning with their own children for healthy alternatives and inspiration.
She also said Healthy Thymes Market provides one of the most extensive gluten free and allergy free sections in the area, prepares healthy, animal free, 100 percent organic food in their on-site kitchen, offers a complete body and beauty care section, plus a nutriceutical and supplement section. On top of that, Dr. Dani has a doctorate in nutrition and provides private consultation to community members looking for improved health.
On Saturdays, she invites people to come, free of charge, so she can listen, direct, and help answer any questions.
Last Saturday, a steady stream of people came to see “Dr. Dani.” Sue Walsh explained, she has been coming to Healthy Thymes for 15 of the 27 years. Four years ago, Walsh had quite a scare and said, “Dani” was the first person she told, “I was diagnosed with cancer.”
Immediately, Dani said, “This is not a death sentence. You'll be OK.”
Today, Walsh looks radiant, after following all of Dani's instructions. Walsh said, she juiced flats of wheat grass, went totally vegetarian, off sugar and gluten, and took supplements, anti-inflammatory in nature.
Walsh continued the surgeons had already removed part of a tumor before she started with Dani. Amazingly, after surgeons removed the rest of the tumor and six surrounding lymph nodes, the results all came back negative of cancer. Walsh said she did not have to go through chemo or radiation.
Also on Saturday, Jim and Laura Halpin came to enjoy Healthy Thymes and talk to Dr. Dani. Laura said, about two years ago, their daughter Amanda decided to become a vegetarian. At that time, Amanda's fingers started peeling, because she was not getting enough nutrition.
Laura said, even though the store was full of customers, Dani spent a lot of time with them, showing all the vitamins and food Amanda needed. Amanda's fingers cleared up after following Dani's suggestions.
Saturday, Laura told Dani, “We're so appreciative. You've changed her life, and you've changed ours. She's very proud to work here.”
Back in the Healthy Thymes Kitchen, Amanda was forming perfectly sized organic oatmeal raisin cookies. She said, she likes best the Healthy Thymes' atmosphere; everyone is really nice; and it is uplifting.
Dr. Dani said they are proud of their staff's dedication to the community, by returning customer calls after hours, looking up information to help customers, and referring special research to her, when necessary. In addition, she said, they are pleased to have the big responsibility of employing 15 staff members, reflecting 15 area families impacted by their business.

Dani's continuing journey

Over 25 years ago, Dani started working toward a Masters and PHD in nutrition, which took 23 years to complete. She said, she kept herself healthy through the process, in order to achieve her goal. She added, she likes inspiring others to make right life style choices, in order to be able to pursue their own personal goals.
In November, she will present a two part “Power Plate” workshop through the Chilton Medical Center, Atlantic Health System; Nov. 3 – Part 1: “Cardiovascular Challenges, Diabetes and Weight Control Power Plate Foods;” Nov. 10 — Part 2: “Cancer Protection and Survival Power Plate Foods.”
