Patricia "Pat" Keever, age 81, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 at Newton Medical Center. Born in Beacon, N.Y., to the late Basil Baracca and Katherine (nee Coughlin), she moved to Union City then to Lyndhurst, and after marrying, she settled in Lafayette in 1965.
She worked for the former Bell Telephone in Jersey City, and then became a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Walt Keever in 2007, her beloved daughter, Katie in 1978, as well as her sisters, Jean Vastano, Joan DeCarlo, and Rosemary Bloomquist. She is survived by her daughters, Patti, of Lafayette and Jody and her partner, Dave Del Sardo, of Wantage; her son, Walter of Lafayette and his fiance Colleen Simpson-Herman; her sisters, Ellen Pini and her husband Tom of Wayne and Kathleen Scalera of Wayne; her cousin, Clarence Heroy of Beacon, N.Y., as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. She loved feeding the birds and squirrels outside her window, and she would ask that in lieu of flowers, you instead make a donation to your local animal shelter, adopt a pet in need of a home, or just give a helping hand to one of God's little creatures in her memory. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex.
