Everett Smith, 89, on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016. Everett was born on Dec. 25, 1926, in Asheville, N.C., to the late Hezikiah and Roberta (nee McDowell) Smith.
He was a resident of Paterson and the last 20 years in Hardyston Township.
Everett served the United States Army during WWII in the 449th Signal Heavy Construction Battalion. Was a Foreman for the Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, N.J., for 30 years and retired in 1980. He was a member of the Ford United Auto Workers Union. He loved working on his own cars and his garden and was very artistic.
Everett was predeceased by his son, Joseph Smith (2013) and his son-in-law Darryl Smith (2013), and his siblings, James Smith, Maureen Randolph, Joseph Smith and Frances Sebastian.
Everett is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Katie Elizabeth (nee Young) Smith, and his daughters, Beverly Ann Smith of East Windsor, Lois Ferguson and her husband, Stephen of Hamburg and Catherine Smith of East Windsor, and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Smith of Burlington Township, and his cherished eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be receive on Friday, Sept. 30, from 4-8 p.m. at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home 241 Rt. 94, Vernon, NJ (GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Ct), and are invited to attend funeral services at the funeral home on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 9:30 a.m., interment at North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston Twp, NJ.
