Rose J. McAteer (nee Jarvis), 85 years old, died peacefully at Ellenton Hospice House, Palmetto, Fla., on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016. Born to James and Josephine Jarvis in Midland Park, N.J., she lived in Hamburg, N.J., for many years before moving to Parrish, Fla., 10 years ago.
Rose worked as a bookkeeper for Navy Federal Credit Union and then Crum & Foster in Parsippany, N.J., for many years before retiring. She was a lifetime member of the Hardyston and Hamburg First Aid Squads and a Red Cross Volunteer.
Rose was predeceased by her husband, Edward McAteer, a daughter, Kim McAteer and a brother, James Jarvis and is the devoted mother of Donna Van Nieuwland-McMinn of Stillwater, N.J., Robin McAteer of Salem, Conn., Sallie McAteer-Southard of Parrish, Fla., and Edward McAteer, II of Wesley Chapel, Fla. Dear sister of Jennie Hosier of Wayne, N.J. Cherished by 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family received their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main Street, Franklin, N.J., on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral from the funeral home was Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Franklin, N.J., on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment followed at North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston Twp., N.J.
