Christine F. Peters, 25, and Janni Sammartino, 38, also of Hawley, Pa., were charged after numerous complaints of theft from the Weiss supermarkets, starting on July 8.
Management from Weiss has reported five separate instances of theft which occurred from the store and investigators purchased nearly $2,000 dollars of merchandise since July 8.
Police said the suspect would regularly frequent the store and purchase a small item in an effort to distract store personnel, then take several hundred dollars’ worth of merchandise without paying for it.
Both were processed and released pending court appearances in Sussex County Superior Court.
The investigation is ongoing and additional complaints may be filed.
