Jefferson plans health screenings

    The Jefferson Township Health Department is offering several health programs for residents in the fall.
    There will be Well Baby Clinics on Sept. 14 and Oct. 12 at the Jefferson Township Public Health Center on Minnisink Road. The clinics are for residents from birth through kindergarten. There will be physical examination with growth assessment and immunizations by a pediatrician.
    There will be a SMAC blood screening on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 8-11 a.m. at the health center. The cost will be $25 for those 61 years and younger, and $12 for those 62 and older.
    This screening tests for glucose, potassium, sodium, cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and a complete blood count, etc.
    There will be women's cancer screenings on Sept. 12 and Oct. 17 from 6-8 p.m. at the health center.
    The fee will be $35.
    This program includes pap test with breast and pelvic examination performed by a certified advanced practice nurse practitioner. Hemmocult slides determining presence of blood in stool. Health Education and counseling available to participants.
