Fundell leads Lebanon Valley baseball team

    Brett Fundell, a graduate of High Point High School was a senior third baseman and pitcher for the Lebanon Valley College baseball team this spring.
    Fundell, a captain and criminal justice major, started in all 39 games for Lebanon Valley. He had a .298 batting average with 39 hits, including eight doubles, a triple and a home run. Fundell also had 20 RBIs and scored 19 runs.
    The Dutchmen had an overall record of 17-22 and they were 7-9 on their home field. They had eight wins in the Commonwealth conference. Fundell was named to the Commonwealth Conference Honorable Mention team.
    Daichi McAuliffe-Uchida was a freshman for the Juniata College men’s tennis squad this spring. McAuliffe-Uchida had a record of 8-2 in singles competition. He had a record of 1-1 in doubles competition. McAuliffe-Uchida’s POE is listed as biology and pre-medicine.
    Juniata tallied an overall record of 13-9, with a mark of 6-0 on their home courts. In the Landmark Conference, they posted a record of 7-1. They advanced to the Landmark Conference Tournament where they toppled Catholic, 5-0, in the semifinals round of a match held in Altoona, Pa. In the championship round, Juniata lost, 5-2, to Goucher in a match played in Towson, Maryland.
    Rob Sharpe from High Point High school was a junior on the roster of the Gettysburg College (Pa.) men’s tennis team. Sharpe had a record of 1-0 in doubles competition for Gettysburg.
    Gettysburg had an overall record of 7-10 and they were 5-5 on their home courts. They had two wins in the Centennial Conference. Sharpe is listed as a organization and management studies major.
    Matt Butler (High Point High School) was a sophomore competitor in jumping events for the Keystone College (La Plume, Pa.) men’s outdoor track and field program. Butler tied for 16th place in the long jump event at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships in Gwynedd Valley, Pa.
    The Giants placed second in the team scoring at the CSAC Championships with a point total of 158, behind only Penn State-Behrend.
    Brandon Forino (Vernon High School) was a freshman for the Eastern University (St. David’s, Pa.) men’s outdoor track and field team. Forino finished in the top 15 in the 10,000 run at the Metro Atlantic Conference (MAC) Outdoor championships in Reading, Pa. Fornino earned a spot on the MAC 2016 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
