Wallkill River Wildlife Refuge offers women's archery hunt

    Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge, in partnership with the National Wild Turkey Federation, is offering a free guided archery hunt for women on Saturday, Oct. 15.
    Women with one year or less hunting experience will learn about deer biology, the tradition of hunting, and have the opportunity to hunt beside an experienced female hunting mentor. Crossbows will be provided to participants. Free deer processing will also be provided by the Newton High School Future Farmers of America Chapter.
    Space is limited, registration is required by Sept. 15. A $50 refundable deposit is required at registration. Hunters must obtain a 2016 NJ Bow and Arrow or All-around Sportsmen License prior to the hunt.
