RoNetco Supermarkets awards scholarships

RoNetco Supermarkets, operators of ShopRite supermarkets in Sussex, Morris and Warren counties, has announced the scholarship winners for the 2016-2017 academic school year.
Committed to continuing education, RoNetco provides $22,000 in scholarships annually to associates, children and grandchildren of associates from the seven ShopRite supermarkets, including the corporate offices.
Employing more than 1,800 employees, RoNetco is committed to providing opportunities for associates to pursue a post high school education by not only offering scholarships, but by encouraging staff members to take advantage of their generous tuition reimbursement program. Offering opportunities for students to learn and earn while working at ShopRite is demonstrated through the Summer Internship Program, for rising college juniors and seniors, as well as workshops and seminars available through ShopRite University and an in-house development program that helps to instill and cultivate competencies and leadership skills.
The recipients of the RoNetco scholarships were as follows:
Angelina Pagano, resident of Hackettstown, received the Dominick V. Romano scholarship ($4,000) named in honor of RoNetco’s President and C.E.O. Pagano attends Sacred Heart University, majoring in Biology, minoring in Psychology for Pre-Med, in the Honors program and on the Dean’s List for receiving a 3.8 GPA. She was in the Color Guard of the Pioneer Band and the SHU Winter Guard, and finalist at The World Guard Internationals. She volunteered at a Food Pantry though the school’s community service program and will continue service to the community as a member of Theta Phi Alpha.
Ryan Wilson, resident of Hopatcong, was awarded the Pasquale T. Romano scholarship ($3,000) in memory of RoNetco’s late president. Wilson is going into her Sophomore Year at the County College of Morris. She is studying Criminal Justice in hopes of entering the Forensic Science field when she moves on to a four-year college. She consistently maintains a high GPA, making it onto the Dean’s list her first two semesters at school.
Morgan Philhower, resident of Newton, was awarded the RoNetco Distinguished Achievement scholarship ($2,500). Philhower just finished her sophomore year at Sussex County Community College where she will be receiving her Associates Degree in Fine Arts. She has consistently been named to the Dean's list and maintains a GPA of 3.86. She is a member of many groups on campus, such as the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the Sussex County Skylanders softball team, and the Art Club. Morgan plans to transfer in the fall to study as an Art Education major in her pursuit to become a High School Art teacher.
Daniel Young, resident of Hopatcong, received the Thomas & Vincenia Romano scholarship ($2,500) named after RoNetco’s founders. Young is a graduating senior at Hopatcong High School and plans to study Chemical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is Vice President of the National Honor Society at his school and tutors students in the subject of mathematics regularly. He has taken several advanced placement classes which he has thoroughly enjoyed such as Calculus, Chemistry, and Sociology. Daniel works part-time at the Succasunna ShopRite as a demo person, cashier, and trainer.
The following associates were all awarded a $1,000 scholarship:
David M. Blauvelt, resident of Sussex and student at William Paterson University; Mark Gardner, resident of Newton and student at Fairleigh Dickinson University; Morgan Hartman, resident of Long Valley and student at the University of Florida; Madison Kennedy, resident of Hackettstown and student at the University of Michigan; Bradley Peterson, resident of Blairstown and student at the County College of Morris; Kimberly Rochette, resident of Stanhope and student at Sussex County Community College; Logan Valenza, resident of Flanders and student at the Florida Institute of Technology; Dominique Voitek, resident of Blairstown and student at Lehigh University College of Arts & Sciences; Casey Weatherly, resident of Milford, PA and student at Lackawanna College; and Christina Zagoruyko, resident of Hackettstown and student at Montclair State University.
