Joan Marie Craven

Joan Marie Craven (nee Russell) of Warwick and formerly of Dumont, N.J., passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 85.
Joan was born Nov. 21, 1930, in the Bronx. She was the daughter of Clotilde (“Claudia”) and Joseph Russell, who both predeceased her.
She was the widow of Irl W. Craven.
Joan retired from Macy’s in 2005 after working there for 33 years.
Joan had a full and active life surrounded by the warmth and love of many family and friends.
She leaves behind her beloved two children: daughter Eileen Caccavone and her husband James of Warwick and son Michael and his wife Susan of Vernon, N.J.; five grandchildren: Casie Morrow and her husband Craig of Middletown; Laura Rico and her husband Keith of Florida; Brittany Craven of Middletown; Matthew Craven of Vernon, N.J.,; and Amber Craven of Vernon, N.J. She was the very cherished and loving GG to four great-grandchildren: Lucas and Ava Rico and Aidan and Ashton Morrow. She was excitedly awaiting the birth of a fifth great grandchild.
She is also survived by her sister and best friend Mary Bakke, and her husband John of Washingtonville; sister-in-law Janet Tekirian of Barnegat. N.J.; three beloved nieces: Eileen, Jean, and Jennifer; and a nephew John. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews. She also leaves behind many friends.
Joan was predeceased by her cherished husband, Irl; her loving parents, Joseph and Clotilde; her stepmother Mary Russell; and her beloved grandson Michael Craven.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held July 25 at St. Stephen's R.C. Church in Warwick.
Burial followed at Warwick Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Warwick.
