Sussex man arrested in iPad theft

    FRANKLIN — Charles “Chuck” R. Southard, 27, of Sussex, is alleged to have stolen an iPad belonging to a resident on Auche Drive on June 26. The complainant reported the value of the iPad at $400.
    Franklin police responded July 10 to a reported theft on Auche Drive in Franklin Borough. An investigation by the Franklin Borough Police Detective Bureau revealed a Sussex man formerly of Franklin had stolen an Apple iPad.
    The investigation revealed that Southard had allegedly been invited into a residence on Auche Drive on June 26. While in the residence, he was reported to remove the iPad and leave without the consent, knowledge and or permission of the complainant.
    Detectives made contact with Southard on July 12 at about 12 p.m. in Sussex Borough, where he was arrested for the theft. Southard was processed and released pending a court appearance in Sussex County Superior Court.
