Franklin man charged in Mother's Day crash
HAMBURG — Dustin Deyoung, 31, of Franklin, has been issued summonses for reckless driving, following too close and driving while intoxicated, in a Mother's Day crash, according to Hamburg police.
On May 8 at about 12:30 p.m. Patrolman Lawrence Barcza of Hamburg police responded to a call of a motor vehicle accident located on Route 23 in the area of Oak Street. The accident investigation revealed that a 2007 Suzuki GSX motorcycle driven by Deyoung was traveling on Route 23 North and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a 2015 Jeep Patriot. Upon Barcza’s arrival, Deyoung was unresponsive and tended to by emergency medical personnel. Deyoung was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center for treatment, and an odor of alcoholic beverage was emanating from DeYoung’s breath prior to his transport for medical treatment, according to police. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.
An investigation by Barcza, Sergeant Jason Tangorra and members of the Sussex County Prosecutors Office was initiated. A review of medical records indicated that Deyoung had a blood alcohol content level of 0.16 percent, twice the legal limit for operating a motor vehicle.
