Space Farms Junior Zookeeper Day nears

— On Thursday, “Zoo Momma” Lori Space Day gave a special preview tour of the upcoming annual Space Farms Junior Zookeeper Day The special event that last year drew about 200 visitors will be held on Saturday, July 23, from noon until 3 p.m. The event is for 5- to 15-year-olds. This year, fox kits, giant tortoises, deer and elk fawns and Japanese Silkie Fowl will be studied by the children who come to the farm. Tips about how to better share the beauty of Sussex County with the local black bear population will also be given. Junior zookeepers will also be able watch as Day feeds Tiger Lily, a 3-year-old tiger cub, as the feline receives a bottle and her training lessons. Assemblyman Parker Space will teach children about snakes. All children will receive a Junior Zookeeper Certificate. Space Farms Zoo & Museum is located at 218 Route 519 in Wantage (Sussex).
