— The Ogdensburg Council unanimously tabled several tax -related resolutions at its Monday, July 11, meeting until Tax Collector Regina Flammer can clarify details.
One of the tabled resolutions was the redemption of a $121,581 tax sale certificate by Interstate Industrial Management.
Councilman Robert McGuire confirmed that Interstate Industrial Management was one of the properties the borough included on its foreclosure list. Interstate Industrial Management and Ficor, LLC attorney, William E Hinkes, discussed with the council allowing his clients, owners Peter and William Fischer, to qualify "under the current on-site/off-site business deliveries ordinance instead of possibly increasing the current weight limit ordinance of Passaic Avenue from 15 to 40 tons."
Hinkes explained half of the building would be dedicated to Ficor, and the other half would be used for something else in the future. He will prepare a memo of facts for the Council to review, he said.
Mayor Steve Ciasullo said the council will gather as much information as possible and make a decision.
Borough Attorney Richard Brigliadoro suggested the council forward the proposed memo to the borough engineer and ask for an estimate of cost in finding necessary answers. He also suggested forwarding the memo to the police department.
Owners Peter and William Fischer were present.
Ciasullo said the state still has not provided any updates regarding the Heater's Pond Dam Engineering report. According to Ciasullo, the pond was ready for the swim meet, but since they are paying three times the usual amount of money on the pond, he had hoped to see more progress. Ciasullo said he would like to get a second opinion, and it might be time to get an aerator for the pond. He asked the Department of Public Works to get some cost estimates.
Councilwoman Rachel Slater said a new swim rope was put in the pond last week, and the new garbage cans and concrete cans should be at the pond by Wednesday, July 13. Slater also said the free swimming lessons are still going.
Ciasullo said there are issues regarding people walking their dogs at the pond, when no dogs are allowed. The police are talking to residents when applicable. He also said the badges and boat decals have increased in number.
Councilman George Hutnick said all amusements have been booked for Ogdensburg Day, Sept. 10, and most of the food vendors have already committed. He also explained that the beer truck will be located against the dugout, with a surrounding double fence, per state specifications.
McGuire said the front steps of Borough Hall are finished; the railings will be placed in about a month, after the stairs have cured.
