The Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council will be holding their annual Summer Arts Camp on July 11-15 and July 18-22 for children in grades 3-8.
The Arts Camp will be held at the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council in the gallery, located at 133 Spring Street in Newton, New Jersey.
The camp will feature the following local artists: Michael Hartnett, Elizabeth Wassell, Pat Meacham, Kate Del Vecchio, Wendy Stamer, Amanda Hoffman, and Chris Aidala, and Katy Lederhaas. You can find a list of the mediums that will be taught this year at scahc.org.
One of the outstanding artists is Wendy Stamer. Stamer, is a well-known local artist from Sparta. She focuses her work on county scenes, local barns and landscapes containing wildlife. The artist has an overwhelming concern for conserving the fragile beauty of the farmland and natural areas of Sussex County. Through her paintings she hopes to preserve the rich tapestries of this rural landscape.
Images of her oils, watercolors and pastels can be viewed on her website at wendystamerfineart.weebly.com. She regularly exhibits at the Skylands Art Show, the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council Gallery, the New Jersey State Fair and with the Art Association in Roxbury.
Stamer recently has expanded her artistry to include painting on smooth rounded rocks with acrylic paints. She transforms the stones into eye-catching representations of small animals, birds, turtles and cats.
Scholarships will also be available. To register, call the Arts Council at 973-383-0027, visit the office or sign up by Eventbrite on the Council’s website at scahc.org. The council hours are Tuesday–Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from noon–4 p.m.
