Group plans NYC theater trip

    She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and, by the time she reached her 20s, had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll. But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice.
    "Beautiful" tells the inspiring true story of Carole King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband, Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than "Beautiful" music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.
    There will be a 2 p.m. matinee performance of "Beautiful" on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
    The group will leave from St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Berkshire Valley Road in Milton/Oak Ridge at 10:20 a.m., arriving around 11:30 a.m. in NYC. Lunch will be on your own and then we will the group will enjoy the performance at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre at 124 West 43rd Street, NYC 10036 at 2 p.m. The group will return to St. Thomas after the performance.
    The cost which includes Orchestra Seating, deluxe motor coach accommodations, and driver gratuity is $115.
