Dance Expression wins awards

SPARTA — DAnce Expression Dance Arts competed at the Nexstar Dance Competition from April 30 until May 1.
"Hairspray" won the high score in the Teen Line/Production/Musical Theatre, while "Juggernaut" won second place in the Platinum division in the Teen Musical Theatre Line category.
"Human" was fifth in the advanced Senior Small Group modern category.
Julia Yond of Sparta was second overall in the Platinum Teen Solo Jazz category for "Body Language" and Danielle Gutt of Hardyston and Ashley Bbenecki of Franklin was second in the Platinum Teen Duet/Trio Jazz for "Can't Do It Alone." Jillian Henderson of Sparta and Kristina Henderson of Wantage are second in the Sr. Duet/Trio for "Bye Bye Black bird."
Jillian Henderson of Sparta, Taylor Wade and Kristina Henders of Wantage were third in the Sr. Duet/Trio for "Ashles.
Kristina Henderson was seventh in the senior solo for "Memoirs."
In the intermediate level, Meghan Mihalik of Vernon, Kaitlyn Laure of Wantage and Mia Lapinski of Hardyston was second in the Teen Duet/Trio for "Steam Heat." Mihalik and Julia Chmeilowiec of Vernon were fith in the Junior Duet Tap for "Feet Don't Fail me Now." while LaRue was seventh for "Orange Colored Sky." Chmielowiec was 10th for Sweet Georgia Brown.
"In My Life" on the overall championship in the Junior Large Group category while "This Joint Is Jumpin" was the regional championsh in the Junior Small Tap division.
In the Novice devision, "Tell Him" finished first and "itty Bitty Pretty One" finished third.
"Vive LeSwing" were the regional champions while "DJ Turn It Up" finished second.
Maya Sauer of Vernon and Alexa Gutt of Hardyston was first in the Duet/Trio 11-and-younger division, while Leah Reinstein of Wantage was first in the solo division. Jada O'Connell of Wantage was first in the 12-14 solo division and Carmellia Limon of Franklin was a winner for "World's Greatest." She also won the Sparkling Smile Award."
"Out of Time", "American in Paris", "DJ Turn It Up" won choreography awards.
