This month, the Cornerstone Playhouse at the Crescent Theatre in Sussex will come alive once again with their presentation of “Y-NOT”.
Described by director and creator Kevin Kane of Newton as “A night at the Tony Awards gone completely off script”, the night of award-winning songs is the first set of performances under the new management of Cornerstone. With the retirement of Michael Gillespie as the non-profit theatre’s board president after years of service, Gillespie gave his blessing to new president John Kollar in the new boards ventures.
Kollar’s vision, with the support of Cornerstone’s new Vice President/Producer Kevin Kane, is have the local theatre producing shows year round. The production “Y-NOT” is the first in their new season. “Y-NOT”, Tony backwards, is a night of songs that were either nominated or won a Tony award, with a bit of comedy thrown in. The performance is filled local talent hailing from towns such as Vernon, Newton, Sparta, West Milford and more.
Following “Y-NOT”, Cornerstone is proud to announce their showing of Guys and Dolls in June, and auditions are May 21-22 for their children’s production of Annie, Jr. which will run in July.
In their new adventure, Cornerstone now has online ticket sales and a new website, as well: www.CornerstoneTheatreNJ.com.
