The world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will return to The Newton Theatre on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at 3 p.m.
The quintessential Glenn Miller Orchestra has been entertaining audiences since the 1930s. With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world.
The band was formed in the 1930s by American musician, arranger, composer and bandleader Glenn Miller, who was one of the best-selling artists of the 30s and 40s. \
Miller mused, “A band ought to have a sound all of its own. It ought to have a personality.”
The Glenn Miller Orchestra’s notable and record-breaking recordings and top 10 hits include In the Mood, Moonlight Serenade, A String of Pearls, At Last, (I've Got a Gal In) Kalamazoo, Tuxedo Junction, Little Brown Jug and Chattanooga Choo Choo.
Sadly, in 1944 while he was traveling to entertain U.S. troops in France during World War II, Glenn Miller's aircraft disappeared in bad weather over the English Channel and he was never seen again.
Tickets for the Glenn Miller Orchestra range from $24 to $49. Purchase tickets by visiting www.thenewtontheatre.com or contact the Box Office at 973-383-3700.
