Don Quixote, Cinderella ballet coming to Morristown

New Jersey Ballet returns to Mayo Performing Arts Center with a weekend of their most popular ballets on May 21 and 22, respectively. The ballets being performed are Don Quixote and Cinderella.
New Jersey Ballet begins its will begin its performances with Don Quixote on Saturday, May 21, at 8 p.m. Tickets will cost $29-$59.
This colorful remounting of Don Quixote, based on the 1900 version staged for the Bolshoi by Alexander Gorsky, is rich in Spanish color, flavor, and the humor of Cervantes' masterpiece about an old knight, his squire, and their fanciful foray into the age of chivalry.
MPAC's Kids Club series presents the beloved tale Cinderella on Sunday, May 22 at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tickets will cost $15-$25. This event is recommended for ages 4 and older.
One of New Jersey Ballet's most popular productions for Kids & FamiliesSM, Cinderella is a two-act romp in which the well-known fairy tale comes to life with wickedly funny romps, lavish sets and costumes and on-stage transformations, including the famed pumpkin turning into a Coach. New Jersey Ballet's productions for Kids & FamiliesSM are accompanied by NJB's original "storyteller" narration.
"Children are enchanted when stories are brought to life through dance and narration," Company Director Carolyn Clark said. "The combination is a very effective introduction to a classical art form."
For more than half a century, New Jersey Ballet has thrilled audiences from Bergen to Cape May with top quality professional ballet and has given hundreds of thousands of adults and children their first introduction to ballet and inspired in many a lifelong love of the arts.
New Jersey Ballet is proud to be designated a Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. In 2009 and 2010, the company was voted New Jersey's favorite dance company in an online poll sponsored by Jersey Arts Marketers.
