Jelly Jam to rock Newton Theatre

| 28 Apr 2016 | 03:33

Super band The Jelly Jam will rock The Newton Theatre on Friday, Aug. 5, at 8 p.m.
The Jelly Jam is a three piece rock band featuring heavyweights Ty Tabor of King’s X (guitar, vocals), Rod Morgenstein of The Dixie Dregs and Winger (drums) and John Myung of Dream Theater (bass).
After the release of two records under the name Platypus and the departure of keyboardist Derek Sheridan, the remaining members sought a new challenge with a new name, The Jelly Jam. Although some may categorize The Jelly Jam as a prog rock band, they defy genres with a combination of rock styles.
The band’s upcoming full length Profit is a concept album about an apocalyptic future, where the people of Earth have abused and exhausted the planet’s resources and are forced to either find a new home or face extinction. Music Theories Recordings will release Profit on May 27.
What started as an outlet for creative surplus, is now an established musical entity, with a big following and a tight sound.
Tickets for Jelly Jam range from $27 to $42. Purchase tickets by visiting www.thenewtontheatre.com or contact the Box Office at 973-383-3700.
