Youngsters called to Power Wheels race series

| 25 Apr 2016 | 02:39

The 2016 Power Wheels Race Series dates will be held on the following Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 PM: first race on May 19, second race on May 26, third race on June 2, and the Grand Prix on June 9.
There will be four races, each with three separate tracks set up between the Jefferson Township High School at 1010 Weldon Road and the Jefferson Township Middle School (1000 Weldon Road) in parking lot B (under the connecting bridge).
The Power Wheels Race Series is open to children ages 2 to 8 years old, a responsible adult must accompany all children, and the series’ entry fee is $20 per vehicle. Eligible participants will race their own “power wheels” type vehicle (a battery- powered vehicle that children drive) around three different tracks that will be set up just for them. Each racer will compete against others for the best race time. Medals will be awarded to the top racers at the Jefferson Grand Prix on June 9.
Participants must wear a bicycle helmet, provide their own power wheels vehicle, and parents must be able to transport the vehicle to and from the racing site. For the safety of the driver and the sake of this series, the vehicle is not to be altered from the manufacturer’s specifications (“stock car”). Altered cars will automatically be disqualified.
The registration deadline is Wednesday, May 17, and all checks should be made payable to The Township of Jefferson. Registration forms are available from the display racks at the Jefferson Township Municipal building, Public Library, and the Recreation office at Camp Jefferson or online at www.jeffersontownship.net, use the link on the home page for “Form Center” and then to “Recreation Department” and scroll to the Power Wheels form.
Call Recreation Director Grace Rhinesmith at 973-663-8404 option 2 for further information.
