Wallkill Valley school board holds retreat

    The Wallkill Valley Regional High School (WVRHS) Board of Education hosted a Board of Education Retreat for all sending districts on Saturday, March 19.
    The sending districts of Franklin, Hamburg, Hardyston, and Ogdensburg all participated. The purpose of the retreat was to collaborate to develop open communication between WVRHS and sending districts so that the needs and aspirations of all incoming students can be a met.
    Robynn Meehan, New Jersey School Boards Association Field Service Representative, for Passaic, Sussex, and Warren Counties, facilitated the retreat.
    Strengths and challenges of all districts were shared. Also, top questions and concerns of sending districts for WVRHS were discussed. The boards engaged in a very positive and lengthy discussion regarding all topics. The members present collaboratively decided the areas in need are: Public Relations, Curriculum Coordination, and Shared Services.
    The WVRHS BOE will work on sending a quarterly newsletter to the sending districts to keep them abreast of any achievements, changes, or upcoming events that impact current and incoming students.It was agreed to plan another retreat sooner, rather than later. It was a new beginning for all of the districts represented.
