Ogdensburg school hosts science fair

Ogdensburg held its annaul science fair on April 13.
The eighth-graders partnered up to show how they use the scientific method to test an idea and the 6th graders created their own inventions.
Jade Lally, Brian Sutherland, and Sam Paoli were the first-place winners in eighth grade. They tested the “5-second rule” when dropping food on the floor. They collected data about the different types of bacteria the food collected when dropped.
Other eighth-grade awards: Second place was Melissa Marchionda and Samantha Larsen, third place was Kayla Lame and Alexia Sexton and honorable mention was Kelsey Pederson and Adrianna Reynolds.
Peyton Kane was the sixth-grade first-place winner for her invention called Safe Haven.
Her model/idea is to build a safe desk where students can be protected from intruders and natural disasters, such as earthquakes. Her desk would have special bullet proof shield and the top of the desk would be able to with stand a collapse from building materials. She got her idea while sitting in a lock down drill.
Other sixth-grade winners: Second place was TJ Ward, third place Nicole Lorencovitz, honorable mentions Daniel Herman, Hunter Hartlieb, Antonio Ciasullo.
