The Sussex County Miners, New Jersey’s newest professional baseball team, are bringing more family fun back to Sussex County this summer with an exciting slate of promotions during the 2016 baseball season at the all-new Skylands Stadium.
Fireworks Saturdays are back and the Miners will unveil their brand-new kids’ play area, The Backyard Place, along with many other events and promotions for fans of all ages.
The Backyard Place, along with the brand-new trackless train, the Miners Express, are the newest additions to the all-new Skylands Stadium in 2016. The train, painted in the Miners colors of black and gold, will give kids rides around the stadium grounds. The new kids’ play space, located behind home plate on the stadium concourse, will feature bounce houses, carnival games and an interactive mining tower, where fans can pan for their very own Miners gold. The Backyard Place is safe for all ages and fans can enjoy all the entertainment in The Backyard Place. You can even schedule a birthday party for your child, or your next corporate outing, by contacting a Miners sales representative.
The Miners will also delight fans with the return of fireworks shows. Every Miners Saturday home game will feature a spectacular fireworks display after the game. There will be a special fireworks show on Friday, Aug. 5. There will also be an extra special fireworks show on July 4 as the Miners celebrate Independence Day with a game against the Ottawa Champions.
In addition to the 11 fireworks shows, 2016 Miners home games will be packed with special entertainment. For the second year in a row, the Miners will partner with Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament to bring all the excitement and fanfare of a medieval jousting tournament to the all-new Skylands Stadium on June 28, when the Miners take on the Rockland Boulders. Meet the King and Queen, watch lively sword fights and stick around after the ballgame for a live joust on the field.
The Miners will also add some new events to the calendar in their second year bringing professional baseball back to Sussex County. Come out to the all-new Skylands Stadium on August 13 and help the Miners take on the dark side, the Trois-Rivieres Aigles, on Star Wars Night. Then, on June 10-12, join Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael for Ninja Turtle Nights at the ballpark. Finally, you can bring your dog to the ballpark on May 29 for the Miners first-ever “Bark in the Park Night” presented by Newton Veterinary Hospital. Take your furry friend with you to the ballpark and support a good cause by “filling the boat” with pet supplies for O.S.C.A.R., sponsored by Off Shore Marine.
For those fans who just cannot wait to kick back with a beer in hand and watch some baseball, the Miners will hold their first Skylands Stadium Grand Slam Beer Fest on Saturday, May 14. Come watch the Miners take on the New Jersey Jackals at 3:05 and show up as early as 1 p.m. to enjoy craft beers and bratwurst sandwiches. Fans 21 and over receive admission to the craft beer festival with unlimited beer tasting from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., one souvenir five-ounce plastic beer mug, one voucher for a bratwurst sandwich and one ticket to the ballgame.
