Hamburg School was honored by a visit a six-member delegation of the Singapore Ministry of Education along with two United Way escorts last Tuesday.
They were there to see first-hand how the school is incorporating character values, core values and social-emotional skill building into the classroom, the school day and the curriculum. The school was chosen by United Way as a school that displays the tenets of character education working through their culture and climate initiative with the both the Center for Prevention & Counseling and the United Way.
The school teaches the lessons of character counts and the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
The visitor’s tour guide was 8th grade student Krystian Kipp, 14, who led them through the Hamburg School hallways and taught them about the unique and yet often-recurring themes found in each corridor.
He also guided them outdoors for a tour of the school’s gardens and other attractions.
