There will be “Dust in the Wind” and barbecue in the air as classic American rock band Kansas headlines the 7th annual Rock, Ribs & Ridges festival on June 25.
The classic rock band will perform Saturday, June 25, at the annual summer bash at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, N.J.
Presented by Franklin Sussex Auto Mall, Rock, Ribs & Ridges provides two days of great music and mouthwatering barbecue served up by top regional rib chefs as the summer outdoor concert and grilling season heats up in a true festival setting.
“We’re proud to have two of rock’s biggest bands, Kansas and Jefferson Starship, headline this year,” said Festival Executive Producer Howard Freeman of Promo1. “We strive to meet the needs of our audience, which has shown us they enjoy our mix of classic rock and Southern rock artists and the festival experience we have to offer.”
A staple of classic rock radio for more than four decades, Kansas launched to stardom with their platinum album Leftoverture and on the strength of the album’s smash hit “Carry On Wayward Son.”
They followed with “Point of Know Return,” which featured both the title song and the monster hit “Dust in the Wind.” Kansas established themselves as a fixture on the Billboard charts for more than 200 weeks throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s.
Kansas played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan during their rise to prominence. Their popularity continued with the next generation of listeners as “Carry On Wayward Son” was the second-most played track on classic rock radio in 1995 and became the #1 most played song of 1997. They then reached a whole new audience through their presence on the popular video games Rock Band and Guitar Hero and on television shows such as “Supernatural” and “South Park” and films including “Anchorman.”
All told, the band has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-platinum albums, one platinum album and the million-selling gold single “Dust in the Wind.” They are releasing a new CD in September; “The Prelude Implicit” will be their 15th studio album.
In addition to the music, festival attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy great food from award-winning regional barbecue chefs who will be competing in a juried rib cook-off, as well as a selection of craft beers from across the country.
Tickets are on sale now at www.rockribsandridges.com. The festival’s Miller Mezzanine provides a great VIP experience close to the stage and festival-goers also have the option of camping out throughout the weekend just a short three-minute walk from the festival area at the Fairgrounds. They will also receive exclusive campers-only, after-hours concerts each night.
