Close cuts for kids with cancer

According to Franklin’s Irish Cottage Inn owner Damian Ryan, this was the seventh year that inn held a St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving fundraiser.
Since the first such event in 2010, about $100,000 has been raised by Ryan and the volunteers for the cause.
More than a dozen fundraising volunteers had their heads and, in some cases, beards as well shaved to help the charity. There were at least seven men and six women who took part.
Live music by the Ray Sikora band kept the event rocking throughout the afternoon. The interior of the restaurant was tightly packed with a crowd watching the two barber’s chairs with hair cutters Lake Panorama resident haircutter Stacy Dolan of Franklin’s Rumours II and Highland Lakes resident Maureen Casselli of Prohaircutters of Rockaway.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a nonprofit group that raises funds for children’s cancer research.
