Skylands Stadium unveils 'Frozen in Ice'

Skylands Stadium’s latest show, "Frozen in Ice" opened last weekend to a steady stream of visitors, both young and old.

Dozens of ice sculptures enhanced by changing waves of colored lights were a delight to those who came to explore the show.

Created by sculptors from Pennsylvania-based Sculpted Ice Works, the stadium’s first-ever ice sculpture extravaganza is scheduled to run for 19 days starting on Friday, Feb. 5.

The indoor/outdoor event includes 100 tons of ice-sculpted displays, including a huge 50-foot-long ice tandem slide. Additional features include a log cabin, a giant-sized throne, a horse-drawn carriage, a gold mine maze, and much more. There is also an ice bar and wine tasting for adults, as well as hot chocolate, coffee and hot food for the entire family. Outside and overlooking the ball field there were ice-carving demonstrations Neil Trimper. Wagon rides around the outside perimeter of the ball field are also available.

The show will be open Wednesdays through Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., from Feb. 5 through Feb. 28 plus Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 15. from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Children are admitted free on Wednesdays.
