Mountain Creek prepares for Special Olympics

Mountain Creek was busy last weekend preparing to host the Special Olympics New Jersey 2016 Winter Games.

Part of the preparation included the artistry of sculptor Brendan Schaffer of Oxford. His first creation was completed on Saturday in the form of a statue of “Olaf” from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Frozen.”

Following “Olaf” he immediately began work on a statue of a polar bear as visitors to the resort paused to have their photos taken while posing with his first creation. This weekend, from Friday through Sunday, the resort will be hosting the Burton Mountain Festival, which will include free product demos, on-snow contests, and professional snowboard riders.

Schaffer has been living in Stillwater and teaching at Fairview Lake YMCA camp.
