Police: Man resisted arrest, injured officers

A Hamburg man faces charges after police say he attempted to flee and assaulted an officer on Thursday, Jan. 28.

Jeffrey Henzelman, 31, of Hamburg was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest.

Police said they received complaints of narcotics activity in and around the borough, and after a motor vehicle stop on Route 23, police allege Joshua Nussbaum-Berger, 20, of Franklin; and Robert F. Schultz, III, 25, and Amanda L. Wilkinson, 21, both of Hamburg, were all found to be in possession of about 25 grams of marijuana.

During the Course of that investigation, police said it was brough to theier attention that a male wanted by Sussex County Superior Court was in the residence of one of the suspects.

Police responded to the residence and determined Henzelman was there. Police allege Henzelman attempted to flee through a window before nearly striking an officer with a ceramic wax melter with an activated heating element. Police said he made two separate attempts to strike offers who were attempting to detain him through a window. Police allege Heinzelman slammed the door on a detective's hand causing injury to the hand and forearm before he was eventually restrained.

it was brought to the attention of the investigators that a male who was wanted by the Sussex County Superior Court was in the residence of one of the suspects arrested.

Heinzelman was sent to the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail with no 10 percent option. He also is being held on a warrant from Sussex County Superior Court.

Nussbaum-Berger, Shultz and Wilkinson were released pending their criminal complaints.
