Jefferson plans bowling program

The Jefferson Township Recreation Department is partnering with Sparta Lanes to provide a winter bowling program for Jefferson Township students in Kindergarten (5 year olds) through 12th grades and adults of all ages.

Join the team at Sparta Lanes located at 83 Woodport Road in Sparta every Thursday beginning on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 4:30 p.m. for this fun-filled 8-week program that runs through April 14.

Each week, bowlers will play two games; and a PBA and USBC hall of famer will be on hand occasionally for free coaching. Each bowler will also be given a Jefferson bowling team t-shirt to wear each week.

The cost per bowler will be $65 for the eight-week program; and there is an option to have a meal included at Sparta Lanes for an additional $20 ($2.50 per week) for a total of $85. The meal would include a small drink with a hot dog or chicken nuggets each Thursday during the eight weeks of the program.

This year, students can chose if they want to use the bowling bumpers, and everyone can choose two people who they would like to bowl with each week. Bowling partners must each file their own registration form and all must agree on using bumpers or not.

Participants will also receive a 15 percent discount in the Pro Shop on the purchase of a new bowling ball, bag or shoes.

Registration forms are available in the Camp Jefferson office at 81 Weldon Road in Lake Hopatcong or by visiting www.jeffersontownship.net and clicking on the “Forms Center” link. Then scroll to the Recreation Department to find the specific bowling registration flyer/form.
